Many of the kids we are working with have been homeless since the earthquake.When they come to the safe house in Haiti they are hungry and tired. If they are reunited with their families they still have a devastating situation where their families can not support themselves, this is one of the reasons why they may have given up their child. Helping a child and its family for a year provides hope and a real chance to live life in hope.

The Greatest Gift is to Care.

We heard about Guerna through our partners in Haiti that she was severely burned. Move to Matter took immediate action and sponsored her for a year allowing her to heal by getting the nutrition and medical help she desperately needed! Guerna and her brother need to be sponsored for the coming year. Guerna needs a nurse and money to go to school, and her brother who has helped her everyday needs to go to a vocational school to learn a skill.

Hatley, formerly in the streets, was taken into the safe house when he injured his hip too badly to walk... and we couldn't leave him defenseless in the abandoned truck he'd been sleeping in. He's an incredibly sweet boy with a stutter - and seemed out of place in the streets! 14 year old Hatley is now about to reunite with his mother! He was previously in school and reached 2nd grade. Can you help him have another chance for an education?

Franckie's kind smile, soft voice and gentle attitude set him aside from most boys in our Street Child Meeting. He also stood out as a child we hope to help as soon as possible, as he is alarmingly underweight. We met Franckie's family and had them show us their home. Franckie is now staying at home. This sweet child will become an incredible example of compassion in his community - I'm sure of it - but we need to get him in school and improve his physical health. Can you help this special boy?

Sweet little Kendy was barefoot in the streets alongside his 3 closest buddies. Following our Street Child Meeting, we took Kendy directly home. His family is living in extreme poverty, but cares about him. Kendy cares about his mother too - and actually begged in the streets to try and help her. He has a very compassionate soul, and sat outside the hospital gates when his friend Hatley was seeking medical treatment. We want to nurture this and keep Kendy at home with his mother, instead of in the streets! Can you help?

Daniel, 17 years old, is an ambitious young man. He was previously in school - but after his father's death, could not continue. He lives with his older sister, but washes cars in the streets to survive. Daniel was one of the children in our Street Child Meeting who was most eager to return to school. Peterson always stood apart from the other street children. He told Morgan, even before the Street Child Meeting, that he wanted to go home. Peterson's family lives in town, just minutes from the streets he spent his days in, but they live in extreme poverty. Peterson is now staying at home, with the hopes of attending school! This 15 year old also has a painful testicular hernia. We are hoping to ensure he is healthy enough for surgery at the end of February 2015!

Little Richard has been in and out of the streets for years. Both of his parents are deceased and he was raised by his elderly grandmother. She also passed away recently, leaving Richard with his aunt. Since his aunt is unable to send Richard to school, his home situation lacks stability - and he has a hard time staying put. We would like to change that, and so would Richard! He promises that if we put him in school, he will stay with his aunt. Can you help make this a reality?

Quiet, smiling Sanon stood out in the Street Child Meeting as a wise and gentle child. Both of his parents are deceased and he lives with his aunt. She had enrolled him in school previously, but financially wasn't able to continue supporting his education. Although Sanon always sleeps at home, he gravitated to the streets during days when he was forced to drop out of school. If he is back in school, Sanon will be empowered to begin reaching his potential... and he has a lot of it!
